The staging of Buju Banton's first concert since his release from prison in the United States where he served a little over 10 years on drug trafficking charges was anticipated by many who were never disappointed the performances of the Gargamel and his guests.
The concert was held on March 16, 2019, at the National Stadium in
Kingston, Jamaica. The concert saw thousands of patrons and was said to
be one of the biggest concert ever with fans coming from all over the
world to witness this historic event and to celebrate with Buju's
friends and family.
Entertainment was in full swing with acts such as Chronnixx, Wayne Marshall, Etana, Beres Hammond, Cocoa Tea, Koffee, Ghost, Romain Virgo, Agent Sasco, Delly Ranks, Christopher Martin, DJ Khaled, Safaree, Stefflon Don, Cecile, Jahazeil Myrie, Lust, Marcia Griffiths, Gramps Morgan and of course Jr. otherwise known as Marcus Myrie.
The artists were well received and gave good support to Buju's concert. Buju's performance was magical, filled with humility exuding freedom and emotion as he started his two-hour performance with a tear-jerking song "Have mercy on me".
He took the
patrons for a ride with selections from his over 30 year old catalogue.
From hits such as Destiny, Not an Easy Road, Champion, Hills and
Valleys, the crowd was pleased with his deliverance as they experienced
his cool vibes to his hardcore vibes. His performance showed the world
that he still got what it takes to keep the crowd alive.
Despite the minor technical glitch his performance was never affected as he interacted with and entertained the crowd. The concert was like no other and had people leaving feeling proud with goosebumps.
