Ambient Reggae Dub Music!- This is a sub-genre of dancehall and reggae music. This involves the mixing of jazz, electronic music, new age, rock and roll, modern classical music, reggae, dancehall, traditional, world and even noise.
It is chiefly identifiable as having an overarching atmospheric context.
Ambient dub was made famous by King Tubby, Sir Coxsone, Scientist, Bill Laswell, Jah Wobble and Lee Scratch Perry in the late 1960s. Reggae dub music is no longer called by that name, Its now refer to as reggae riddims, Dancehall riddims or Instrumentals.
David Toop said "Dub music is like a long echo delay, looping through time...turning the rational order of musical sequences into an ocean of sensation."
If you should ask a young producer what is Dub?, They would say, It musical riddim without an artiste or someone toasting over it.
In UK "Ambient dub" is a phrase that was first coined by the now defunct Beyond Records from in the early 1990s in Birmingham, England. Their defining series of albums Ambient Dub 1, 2, through to 4 help to inspired many.
Ambient music is mostly played at Dinner,Romantic occasions, weddings and special functions, mainly as back ground Music.
