Vybz Kartel Still leads the pack in 2019

One could debate this, so what are the other names which readily comes to mind, when you speak about "Who is running dancehall now"?

A former member of Vybz Kartel's Portmore Empire Popcaan is one who is definitely doing great things.  Credit must also go to dancer turned artist Ding Dong for the work he has been putting in since the start of 2019.

Then there are the new faces of dancehall music Teejay,  Squash, Javillani, Chronic Law and Rygin King.

With the exception of Popcaan and Ding Dong, all the other artists only have one or two chart-topping songs since 2019.

If you should go to popular video and music sharing music platform YouTube and search for the following songs from Vybz Kartel , you will see why in our opinion Kartel is leading the Pack for 2019.  As the saying goes numbers don't lie.

So how does he do it, one would ask?  Since it's been almost eight years since he was last able to attend a recording studio. Remember that in September 2011, he was arrested by Jamaican authorities for marijuana possession and subsequently charged in two separate murder cases.  He’s been in a Kingston prison ever since.
