Toots Hibbert - Reggae and SKA music greatest singer

Toots Hibbert was born on December 10, 1945 in the parish of Clarendon, Jamaica. 

His birth name is Frederick Nathaniel Hibbert. He grew up singing gospel music in a church choir.

In the 1960s he move to Kingston, there he met Raleigh Gordon and Nathaneil McCarthy. They later formed the famous group called "The Maytals".

This Musician, Songwriter and Bandleader performs four (4) different genres of music. These are SKA, Rocksteady, Reggae and Root Reggae.

In 1967 after Hibbert was released from prison for drugs possession, the group was rename to "Toots and the Maytals".

They won the Jamaica's popular song contest three times
1.1966 with "Bam Bam"
2.1969 with "Sweet and Dandy"
3.1972 with "Pomps and Pride"

With lots of speculations as to who is the founding father of reggae, Toots has being credited for his 1968 song "Do The Reggay".

He's on of the first artiste to use the word Reggae in a song.

Hibbert who is now 65 (2010) said in an interview, when he was asked about his musical career. "My Life goes a long way back. Its not easy to talk about it in two hours. It could take years for me to remember everything".

This Grammy Winning artiste was voted by Rolling Stone Magazine as one of the 100 greatest singer of all time in 2009.

Rygin King ready to take dancehall throne - He has been racking up hit after hit in recent times.
