Estonia Reggae Music - Reggae and Dancehall music are very popular in this small European country.

This small European country has really accepted Jamaica's music. It boasted Reggae Bands such as, Magnetic Radar and Apelsin.

It's reported that they were the first to introduce reggae/dancehall music to the people of Estonia.

Artists such as Beenie Man, Shaggy and Sean Paul are very popular in there. Estonia's top reggae/dancehall artists are Def Raode, Plookie, Fire and Ice Band and Rasta Orchestra.

The 2010 International Dancehall Queen which was held at Pier One, Montego Bay on July 31st, has also seen a contestant from Estonia among many other European countries.

But unfortunately she was not crown the winner. Better luck next time.

Reggae music is reaching everywhere. In Estonia, it was possible to listen to reggae-influenced music from as early as the 70s. A strong reggae community emerged in the 90s when Estonia got its independence back.

Then, people started to use and wear symbols that were coming from Rasta culture, - dreadlocks, Lion of Judah, etc., listen to Jamaican music and pay more attention to the lyrics of the songs.

Surely, everybody here knows who Bob Marley is, especially since The Wailers band visited Estonia three times! In 2006 for instance, www.reggae.ee was created to promote Afro-Caribbean music and culture in Estonia.
