Dancehall & Reggae Music in India

Reggae and dancehall music have now landed in India.

These genres of music which originated in the small caribbean island of Jamaica, is really spreading its wings.

Dancehall, Reggae and Dub music was introduce to the Indians people by a sound system call "The Reggae Rajahs".

The Reggae Rajahs is India's first sound system. The operators of this sound system are "Most City", "Mr Herbalis" and "Digi Dang".

The system was formed in 2009, in New Dehli. This sound system only plays Reggae, Dancehall and Dub reggae music.

Below is a short video clip of Indians enjoying Reggae music to the fulliest.

Like most countries in Europe, there are now band, artists and producers of dancehall and reggae music in India.

In december 2011 Mugo's Hi-Fi created history as the first sound system to tour India.

Here is what they had to say about there visit.

Mungo's Hi Fi is a sound system based in Glasgow, Scotland which follows the original Jamaican sound system tradition. After working together as the Dub Dentists, Tom Tattersall and Doug Paine founded the group in 2000, writing, recording, producing and performing their own brand of reggae and dub music, working in collaboration with other artists and producers.
