Maxi Priest dancehall reggae singer



Dancehall reggae artiste Maxi Priest, the singer who's real name is Max Alfred was on June 10, 1962 in Lewisham, London, England.

From birth Priest as he is also called had music around him because he is the nephew of one of reggae music Icon Jacob Miller, who is the lead singer for the group Inner Circle.

This reggae Singer grew up listening to Gospel, Reggae, R&B and Pop music. Most lovers of his music consider it to be more closer to R&B and Pop than to Reggae.

Like most of dancehall and Reggae music artists, He too started out singing on a Sound System, Maxi started singing on a south London sound system by the name of Saxon Studio International.

He gain international stardom through his hit single "Wild World" a cover of Cat Stevens song. This was also on his self titled debut album released in 1988.

Since his 1988 debut, Maxi has enjoyed tremendous success as a singer with popularity and recognition around the world. In fact, he is the most successful reggae solo artist in the world, second only to legend Bob Marley.

He has enjoyed numerous worldwide hits as well as a Number one pop chart smash and is widely credited with helping spread the gospel of reggae and Caribbean music.
