Reggae On The River

Reggae on the River, this is California's biggest reggae music festival.

The festival was started in 1983 as a benefit for the Mateel Community Center which was destroyed by fire. It was organize by Carol Bruno.

It was first held at the French's Camp near the Eel River in California. This was its home until 2006.

Due to financial difficulties the festival was not held in 2007. When it was move to a new location in 2006, this cause the attendance to fall significantly.

Reggae On The River

Reports are that this cause the organizers and the owners having a legal battle, due to organizers not able to cover their expenses for the venue.

Reggae on the river celebrated its 26th anniversary in 2010. Its now being held at the Benbow Lake State Park.

Reggae artists such as, Sister Marcia Griffith, Seed N Soil, Anthony B, Pablo Moses, President Brown, Sly and Robbie, Don Carlos and Rootz Underground are just a few of the many reggae acts who have performed at this world renown festival.

The festival is held annually in the first week of August.
