Ras Morgan Official Biography

The musical debut of Ras Morgan, took everyone who knew him by surprise, because they knew him as a construction worker /handy man, but never has a recording artist, so his EP album release was something they all wanted to hear.

The ability to entertain started at an early age in life for Morgan, with him being extraordinary, came naturally in most cases, not only just with a microphone, but with anything in life that grabs his attention.

Before I get carried away about his journey to music, let me first go back and give you a brief knowledge of the two Great people who made is life a reality.

 Mr. Versey Morgan, and Miss Irene Morgan, who had eight children by the mid-70s, and when everyone thought that they were just about done making babies, Miss Morgan went again for her 9th child and that was when Ras Morgan came into life, born April 3rd, 1975 in Kingston Jamaica... As lucky number nine.

 His father came from the parish of St. Elizabeth and were now living in Kingston, working as a carpenter by trade.

 His Mother, on the other hand, was from the parish of Manchester, and now was living in Kingston, she was what he would call an all-rounder by trade; doing sewing, cleaning, washing, braking, and on the weekends, selling all the pillowcases and curtain she sews in the market, and still fine time to get dinner done, just in time for everyone to eat.

 Ras Morgan education was always funded, and not so much of a burden on his parents, because being the youngest of the nine children, most of his brothers and sisters were older enough to contribute to his education, so has his mother would say… “him have no excuse not to be on the attendance every morning, from Monday to Friday, In school”.

And so, by going to school that was when he became known to others, and were immediately loved by the principal and teachers, and was seeing has a unique child with big ears... He can remember being in kindergarten, at about age 6, and all the teachers would take special attention, in attending to him and by giving him extra fruits and milk at lunch time, and was always talking amongst themselves about how cute he looks in this little uniform… So, you can see his awareness of being special was always there from a very tender age, and so it was very easy for him to ride that wave, all the way through life, knowing and feeling, that he was always special.

 Ras Morgan great talent of being able to entertain with music started at the Ealey age of 12, Being in a high school in Kingston, Jamaica children use to gather around to see, who has the best lyrics, and who can naturally entertain. Ras Morgan was known to be the monster of gimmicks, because he believed if he can make you laugh from one of his songs, and stage performance, he has just won the competition.

 So, the songs in which he usually sings, come from a popular known artist called, Professor nuts; do I really need to say anything more… Ras Morgan had the entire classroom on their knees laughing, asking him to stop, but at the same time begging him for more. The trail and the applause at that moment were telling him, this was something he loved and wanted to do in life.

All other performances came from school events such like, festivals, concerts, and student gatherings. The reviews of his performance have been always surprising, but well-received.

 In 1993 leaving Kingston, Jamaica as a teenager and residing in Toronto, Canada. His involvement in music came when he was working for a recording label in Montreal, Quebec has port of their road management team, representing an artist who was born in Montego Bay, Jamaica but now was living in Quebec. That behind the scene experience give him a chance to see the work in which it really took sometimes just to get an artist prepare for one performance.

 About 10Years after, it was on the road driving home from work one day, with a co-worker when Ras Morgan created his first single, and was encouraged by friends to keep writing, so he did just that, and created his first EP album entitled: take it easy

 In his own word, his EP album is a very groovy, roots rock reggae album, with songs written with the intention to motivate, uplift, and entertain you, and is also designed to give you tips, on how to navigate thru the system of life, without being mental and physical defeated.

 Ras Morgan was once asked what more can we get from his songs, and his reply was; “my songs were all written like I was talking to someone, so it will be a great joy and fun for me whenever I get to perform my songs in person, making the listener feel like the songs were being performed personally for them and that is when I think my performance is at its best”.
