Fyah Doc was born Donavan O’Neil Clarke on January 1, 1978 in St. Mary, Jamaica. St. Mary being the birth place of some of Jamaica’s finest reggae artistes like Beres Hammond, Sizzla Kalongi etc.
He made up his own unique stage name by using just the initials of his birth name (Donavan O’Neil Clarke – D.O.C.), the Fyah was added by a colleague of his. Not only is he a singer, he is also a song writer and producer who composes his own rhythms.
Fyah Doc is and always has been a lover of the reggae and dancehall genres of music. His musical career started from as early as primary school where he would free style, entertaining his class mates. His inspiration to write lyrics began in high school from listening to reggae and dancehall veterans such as; Supercat, Ninja Man, Shabba Ranks, Buju Banton, Bounty Killer, and Beenie Man. However, it was the rise of Sizzla Kalongi and Capleton that his songs took on body as he was really motivated by the messages and vibes garnered from these artistes.
Although under the influence of his inspirations, Fyah Doc creates his own style to sing and DJ about various topics and as such, is considered a well rounded artiste, He is now composing and producing his own tracks. His first single entitled ‘So Many Times” for his record label; GhettoBeats, was released in 2011 and has been getting air play both local and international.
His dream is to become a renowned international artiste spreading a message of love, oneness, unity and togetherness. Fyah Doc stated in a recent interview that he intends to be distinctive in this current industry by delivering quality production, lyrics and value for money in entertainment.
His debut EP entitled “Break Free” consisting of tracks such as: “So Many Times”, “Justice”, “Confused” and “Break Free” is scheduled to be released in June 2013.
