Daddy Yankee "The King of Reggaeton
"Daddy Yankee" born Ramon "Raymond" Ayala Yankee on February 3, 1977 in Rio Piedras San Juan Puerto Rico.
From an early age he was involved in what was then underground rap which is now called "Reggaeton". His first single was "Playero 37", after which he recorded "No Mercy" his first album.
Release of EL Cartel and El Cartel II was said to be instrumental in
the rise to popularity of the genre of music now call reggaeton and he
was given all the credit for this.
But even with all this fame
going on for him his major break onto the international scene did not
came until 2002 with the release ofhis album titled El Comgri.com, this
album did well in Latin America also North and South America.
Yankee's album which took the world like storm was "Barrio Fino". This debuted at #1 on the Billboard top Latin Chart.
He has worked with record labels such as "Sony Music Latin and
Inter-scope Records but still refuse to sign to any major record
At present, he is working under his own record label El Cartel Records.
as the most successful Latin artiste Yankee has sold more than Eight
Million albums and five number one singles on the Billboard's radio
Through out the Caribbean and even in Jamaica most party
goers will not feel satisfied if "Gasolina" is not played in the clubs
or Street Parties and also it's one of the most requested Latino's song.
Daddy Yankee has been credited by "CNN" and Times Magazine as one of the most influential people in the world today.
He has won many awards from the "Grammy's" to "Best Music Video Awards" from MTV.
Yankee will be releasing a cologne called "DYAMANTE" for the ladies and also an album titled "Mundial" in April 2010.
to his influence on "Spanish Music" now called "Reggaeton" we the
people in the English speaking Caribbean and the rest of the world can
now enjoy the music of Pureto Rico.
