Jamaican born Tafari migrated to the U.S.A at a young age, and along with his family put roots in one of New York's largest Caribbean diaspora, the Bronx.
Having both parents dedicated educators and song writers, music was fostered and cultivated as far back as his preschool years. Throughout his school years, Tafari participated in schools’ performances as a member of the choir. His aspiration to become a recording artist was realized at a young age when he recorded a motivational CD of children songs.
Although his first love in music is Reggae, he was influenced by the likes of Bob Marley, Buju Banton and Shabba Ranks, Tafari was also inspired by the people around his environment and the urban sounds of the city such as alternative artists Two Door Cinema Club, Foster the People and Arctic Monkeys, along with rap mainstays Jay-Z, Kanye West, Drake and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, in addition to R&B artists such as Beyonce and Janelle Monae amongst others.
Juggling both music and his schooling can be daunting but the young artist and his family would have it no other way. Tafari wisely shares his time between school and the studio perfecting his craft by putting pen to paper, and his voice to music.
