It was launched on November 30, 2005, by MTV Networks. Tempo networks was first under the ownership of MTV Networks and Viacom.

In 2007 Mr Frederic Morton bought out the channel and moved its headquarters to Newark, New Jersey. It also got a name change to "Tempo Networks".

Viewers in New York, Atlanta, Boston, Washington DC, Baltimore, Miami and Los Angeles along with over 3 Million viewers across the Caribbean can enjoy the latest dancehall and reggae here.
