Some old reggae song I heard in Belize

This song i heard on a sailboat in Belize 20 years ago. A local was explaining to me the lyrics-about an explorer or whatever who came and conquered the people. The chorus went something like:"and when he tell them to jump, they jumpin, and when he tell them to sleep, they sleepin..." Anyway, it was a great song, one of the best times in my life, and wish I knew the song, an old reggae classic I would think.
