Applejay is one of the most dynamic upcoming reggae artists.
His vibrant rhythms and captivating lyrics transforms his audience. His influences range from soulful R&B to hardcore dancehall and traditional reggae. Born Neil Norman in Kingston, Jamaica, Applejay earned his stage name after winning a battle competition at a party in Seaforth St. Thomas.
At 14, he made his singing debut in front classmates with a spirited rendition of Micheal Jackson's "One More Chance" he's never looked back since.
He went on to perform in any high school production and wrote a jingle to promote dental hygiene at his high school. He then took his talent to local community shows, where he created Dubplate for sound systems.He has opened for the "who's who" of the reggae/dancehall scene: Admiral Tibet, Bounty Killer, Fantan Mojah, Future Fambo, Little John, Major Mackeral, Munga, and many more.
In 2007 Applejay traveled to New York, where he met Johnny Osbourne, the famed dancehall/reggae singer known for hits like "Buddy bye" And "Water Pumping." Johnny took him to Don One Studio And introduced him to Luciano. While performing in New York with Penny Irie and Junior Demus, Applejay caught the eye of Lifestyles Entertainment LLC. In 2013, he released his first single,"The System," recorded by Semper Fi Records. His second single, "My Love Real" soon followed in 2014.
