Razor B is Right 'PonTarget' with New Album

Dancehall sensation Razor B blazes into the New Year in style with his smash sophomore album #PonTarget, available worldwide from all major digital retailers on February 17, 2015, from FOX FUSE.

Born Roger Cassup, the Toronto-based, Jamaican-born entertainer is still enjoying tremendous success from his breakout hit “Wine And Stop,” a massive fan favorite in the dance halls that debuted last year, which ignited the release of this new studio effort.

Like his name suggests, Razor B is on the cutting edge of the dancehall genre, and delivers a fusion of velvety, R&B vocals as a singer then effortlessly flips to a slick deejay/rapper, spitting rapid-fire lyrics that combine to create red-hot hits for the thrilling entertainer. “I hope people connect to this album as it comes from a personal space,” states Cassup, who has been on the scene for some 10 years now. “It is sexually charged but intriguing as it’s provocative without slackness. It’s an everyday, feel-good-about-yourself album and every song on the album has its own unique story, so people will definitely enjoy it.”

Penning all 11 dancehall bangers, Cassup reveals the collection was recorded between Jamaica and Canada over the course of six months. He worked alongside hit-makers such as Jazzy Kneel, DJ Kitt, DJ Tropical, Zeggae Sun, Galaxy Productions and G07, who all served as producers on the album.

#PonTarget showcases a potpourri of styles ranging from romantic gal tunes to hardcore dancehall vibes. The new track “Cater To You” serenades the ladies with suave promises and its official video recently premiered on VEVO, just in time for Valentine’s Day. It joins his “Wine And Stop” video on VEVO, which has been racking up views and has been in solid rotation on reggae/dancehall radio platforms worldwide, since its release last year. Both videos were directed by Wayne Benjamin and filmed on location in Jamaica, with its tropical paradise as backdrop.

More new anthems like “Ride It Like A Champion” (released in both clean and dirty versions), “Trailer Load” and “Mawning To Night” take us back to the great days of dancehall, while “Whine and Pedal” brings international trap flavors, and “Sleep Over” returns us to contemporary dancehall sounds of today’s generation. “It is so exciting to share my work with the world,” states Cassup. “Music is a lifestyle that every culture should embrace.” With something for everyone, #PonTarget hits its mark and is bound to satisfy dancehall aficionados globally.
