PJJames - Who a defend them ft. - Jannie Jansen Official Music Video

James Stephney aka PJ James is Singer, Rapper, Dancehall artist, Songwriter & Producer. He was born in Guyana and moved to Surinam at a young age. He started singing in highschool. Every break he would perform for his fellow students and enjoy himself. After a while he was invited for a battle against a singer of another school. This battle he won. After winning the battle someone in the croud suggested he’d meet and collab with the top rap group in the country (at that time) FBUD. And so he did and he had many great performances. As time went by he had established a name for himself under the name PJ. PJ became a leadsinger and songwriter from the age of 15 for the well known Surinameseband Kasimexhouseband. In the band he sang Dancehall, Reggae, Soca, Hip Hop and Dance music.

From the year 2000 PJ lived in Barbados. While being on campus he sang for the university choir (Cavite Choral) and worked parttime as a model.

PJ eventually moved back to Surinam, where he started his own recording studio in 2004. Until 2008 he recorded a lot of artists in Surinam, performers like Bryan Bijlhout, StreetSoldierz and Marian Cornet. During these years he also established himself as a musicproducer and songwriter. He wrote several songs for the Kasimex houseband, Marian Cornet, Suripop and others.

From 2008 till 2010 PJ lived and worked in South Africa. He recorded African artists and also soaked up some culture. The beats and songs he produced during this period are influenced by African culture.

He is now living in the Netherlands and changed his name to PJ James to distinguish himself from the other PJ’s. He’s doing what he loves to do the most, running his own recording studio and making music. 4The Love of Music he calls it.
