Phorein Reggae Music artiste

Born Milton Jackson (Stamford, CT), Phorein grew up in the rural district of Salt Spring, Montego Bay Jamaica.

Phorein's love for music began at an early age. Similar to other kids his age attending church was mandatory.

Each Sunday he would look forward to the musical selections of the church choir.

"These were the most memorable moments" he recalls from that experience. This along with the various types of music on the radio intensified his curiosity about music.

So much so, he decided that he wanted to be like some of the artist he heard on the radio. He would often envision himself in their position, longing for the day when he would be able to hear himself on the radio. His musical journey began at age 12 when he wrote his first song titled "Settled for me" a song that was primarily about the island of Jamaica.

At age 16 he returned to the United States (Connecticut) where he would launch his professional career under the stage name Melo Yellow. His first officially recorded song "Sipping Champagne" feat. Junior Holt was an immediate success.

So successful, the duo entered and won "Showtime at the Apollo" a long standing television show that was famous for launching the careers of several of the great musicians of our time. Known for a tough overly critical audience, the performance was well received.

Riding the wave of the highly successful "Sipping Champagne," he would enjoy enormous success in the late 90's early 2000's. The hit single was followed up by numerous other singles; recordings alongside Elephant Man, Merciless; a very successful tour (US & Jamaica) with Christine Hewitt and the CO2 Band; numerous live performances sharing the stage with Mad Cobra, Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, Terror Fabulous, Anthony B, and several other prominent reggae artist.

After taking time out to handle the challenges of life, raising a family and building a successful business, he could not ignore the call to do music anymore. After careful consideration he decided that he had to get back to making music. Not just making music, but music that will have an impact on the world. Music that is inspirational to the mind, body and soul.

Inspired by a new lease on life the artist Melo Yellow gave way to Phorein. A new direction, new sound, new energy, new vibes, new persona, essentially a rebirth with a purpose.

Currently, Phorein has finished recording his first studio Album slated to be released in 1st quarter 2012. Executively produced by Phorein, the Album features productions by John "Raf" Allen multiplatinum producer who has worked with the likes of Shaggy and other prominent reggae artist; productions by Dirty Jokerz, Cris Gold (Goldmind Productions), Vershion (Magichian Records), and by Phorein himself.

The lead single "Better Days" (dreaming of a better day) has received steady airplay on Jamaica's # Radio Station Irie FM, Connecticut (Home Base) and various radio stations across the globe. The accompanying music video, which was recently released, has been added to the regular rotation on most of the various Television programs in Jamaica.

The video is has received tremendous support from both the local and international reggae music fans and industry personnel.Phorein has had a strong 2011 with the release of the lead single "Better Days," "Want to see I fall" on the Heart Clean Riddim released by Goldmind Productions, "Brighter Days" on the Ole Iron Riddim released by Goldmind Productions), "Invest" on the Off Balance Riddim released by Magichian Records and a full page feature in the Jamaica Gleaner (August 14th edition).

With the Album scheduled for a early 2012 release, a host of singles on various riddims set to be released in the near future,Phorein is gearing up for an even stronger 2012 filled with new music and live shows.
