New York-based recording artiste Mye Laurell performed on CVM's Hitlist last week to rave reviews from the studio audience and her loyal fan base on the social-media networks.
"The whole experience was incredible, I got great interaction with the audience when I performed Move.
I am also getting a lot of feedback on Twitter and Facebook, people are feeling the song. I have at least two requests from disc jockeys for dubs. So I am pushing full steam ahead as I have made arrangements to shoot the video in April," she said.
The sexually charged Move (Come On) radio hit, produced by Blaq Sheep, is doing well on FM radio locally, and a new soca remix hit is slated to hit the airwaves soon.
"I gave the single to a number of selectors who are playing the soca parties, so you can look out to hear the song over the Easter holidays. I am going to turn up the heat on Move," she said.
Mye's crisp clear vocals on the chorus soar over the soca-influenced track, and she shows how versatile she is by deejaying the verses in a sultry, hardcore voice that exudes raw, rampant sexuality. Mye Laurell is also getting a decent buzz on her video of her one-drop single, Lonely Times, which is getting rotation on cable channels in Jamaica.
A graduate of St Andrew High School for Girls before migrating to the United States, she pursued nursing as a serious profession and, in her spare time, has worked diligently on her craft. With the success of Move, established producers have begun to send beats her way and she is eager to add to her growing repertoire of songs. She is pushing full steam ahead with plans to release her debut album this summer, even without the help of a major independent record label.
"Even though the convention is that albums don't really sell, I still want to put out one to make a connection to my fans who have followed my recording process and my growth as an artiste. The world is a huge place and there is still an emotional reason to buy albums. whether it is for supporting a new artiste or sustaining a connection to a familiar one, albums are still relevant," she said.
The femme fatale's music has already been well received in Jamaica and the other Caribbean islands, Europe, Canada, USA, Africa, and all over the world via the Internet. She has videos in rotation on HYPE, CVM and RE TV. Her singles have begun to generate a lot of interest on YouTube and other music sights.
Mye first vaulted into the spotlight with the Wanting You remix with reggae-dancehall veteran Delly Ranx, produced by Anthony Malvo, and another single Sexy Rock, produced by Fleximus-Prime of The Netherlands.
