DARK ANGEL comes from the name MOWTY MAHLYKA which was given to the artist during and after his performance in Gambia. In Wolof language
it’s a translation for Dark Angel. He adopted this title with humility and embraced it spiritually!

He started off performing with sound systems at local dances around West London and built his name up on the underground scene. He was part of a group called „Nuh Fear Dem” when the group was selected to compose a song for a campaign called „Not Another Drop”.

The song has received heavy radio rotation throughout different boroughs in London.
He then departed from this group to pursue a solo
career and decided to revamp his whole image and
artist name.

Then released a single in 2007 titled „My Time” which gave him the platform to connect with local djs to get his songs on airplay. He decided to set up and registered his recording label called Spectacular Recordings.

He has debuted throughout England, in numerous countries in Europe such as Italy, Switzerland (alongside legends Chaka Demus & Pliers) Finland, Russia, Poland and Holland(Cannabis Festival) as well as in the West Indies(Grenada, Jamaica, St. Lucia) receiving a joyful response from the masses.

He has had 3 releases with the Brighton based Roots Garden Label and also a release through
Foundation Records based in Norwich. These tracks are all roots reggae music which is his first
love where music is concerned. First realease on the Foundation/Spectacular Recordings: "MEDICATION" in 2007.

His second release was „PEOPLE COME TO”on the Roots Garden label in 2008 then Foundation Record Label released another song called „MEDITATION”.
In 2009-early 2010 Roots Garden released another song "FREE DA MINDS" which to this day is his
biggest roots track in the underground scene.

It has received heavy rotation around Eastern Europe and in the United States, Africa and in
the Caribbeans as well. In late 2010 Roots Garden Label released a another song titled "GOOD ONE" which is his most current reggae roots song.

In 2011 he has released the album titled „REBIRTH”(Spectacular Records) which so far has sold a significant number of copies since its release.

June 2011 El Toro Production Label released a riddim called „Singing In The Rain” on which
he featured with a wicked dancehall track called "SINGING IN THE RAIN" which featured artists from Europe, Jamaica, Canada, and from the United States.

A makeshift music video was created for this
song which you can watch on youtube. The main producers he is currently working with: St. Petersburg(Russia) based El Toro Productions, Kasa Beats and Simeon NVP both based in West London.

His music is home grown, he writes all his lyrics
and engineers himself. In 2010 he recorded a track with Styles P from D-Block titled „WHERE THE ANGELS SLEEP" produced by Ceasar Da Kid and
Pstarr whom are based in Italy this track was
released officially in 2011 July and received very good reviews and airplay with over 1 MILLION
views on YouTube.

He recently had a collaboration with UK artist Pisees, for a track&video called: „PASS IT”. Dark Angel is a very versatile artist whose aim is to bring an uplifting vibe and energy to the scene.
A dynamic performer, very composed and humble as he believes music is taking him on a mission.

As an artist he wishes to appeal to the masses
worldwide. His desire is to present music with
substance and information, whether it is
highlighting social, political or spiritual issues.

With his words: „I represent no area, zip code, post code I represent humanity, therefore i stand for the people” Over the last 2 years Dark Angel has been compiling a catalog of dancehall songs but still maintaining his first love for music: roots reggae! „This is my calling”
