Latoya Tynese Jackson aka Latty J is the only female Artiste on the ‘hot’ new “Nuh Fraid Riddim” produced by Jah Snowcone aka Victory Boss, with her song “Put Up Unu Hand” which chimes her message of women can do it, the need for women to get out of the shadow of men and do what they want to do.

Latty J owns her skills as a female artiste, whilst warning men and women alike that she is strong and that her lyrics speaks to aspirations and realities of life of Jamaican women, she also echoes respect for elders in the music fraternity as well as encourages unity in the dancehall with lyrics like;

"Put up unu hand, from yuh rate bounty killer the general Put up unu hand, Latty J rated by every don,Put up unu hand, from yuh know seh you're a Beenie man fan Put up unu hand, Latty J rated by every icon".

The male dominated Riddim sees the likes of Mr. Vegas, Ninja Kid, Savage, Assassin aka Agent Sasco , Suku Ward, Elephant Man, Beenie Man and Spragga Benz just to name a few . But undoubtedly Latty J has left her stamp and describes her flow “Put up unuh Hand on the “Nuh Fraid” Riddim as that of riding a Z90, showing her versatility and raw and
real hardcore style.

Latty J, since placing second in the Digicel Rising Star competition in 2011, was taken under the wings of International Artiste, Producer, and MV Music Head, Mr. Vegas, he has since helped to develop and unearth a mature, sexy, and more ‘Gangster Girl’ style Artiste. Latty J style and lyrics has evolved she doesn’t wish to be stereotyped and beams a strong personality.

Her mentor Mr. Vegas describes Latty J as a no hype, down to earth person and is one of the realest person’s he has been around”. He stated, “Once she gets on her high-grade she is the calmest rebel you will ever know”, “Latty J will have a connectivity with people with real ghetto experiences especially those strong willed, determined, females from the innercity and charges them to “Put up unuh Hand.”

One can look for big things from Latty J as she is also a member of the newly formed Team Hustle under the direction of International Recording Artiste Mr. Vegas as a response to help catapult Dancehall back to the fore. Look out for Latty J’s song “Irie Vibes” on the Protector Riddim, which is getting a lot or rotation locally and internationally.
