K'reema The Princess of Dancehall

K'reema The Princess of Dancehall - Reggae pop is much like the name, plenty of feel good rhythms with some fresh flavor. If you’re into the steadiness that comes from a familiar beat plus a dash of dancehall you’ll dig the boldly vibrant sound of K’reema.

The songwriter and singer has entered the scene like only a select few are able to, by willing it. With a refreshing clash of Jamaican persuasion meets city style there's a certain mover and shaker vibe that produces a fierce interpretation of herself expressed as music. It’s been circulated that the driving forces behind this young talent are the powerful mantras she swears by.

By writing in the moment and allowing herself to become the basis of her body of work the result is deeply personal. Even at first encounter it's noticeable she has got the depth of an old soul and the humbleness of a seasoned veteran. It’s interesting to consider who K’reema is inspired by, she names Beres Hammond and Tanya Stephens as more traditional influences alongside childhood favorites TLC and enchantment with current sensation Beyonce. Keeping inline with her love for Beyonce', her  single “Sorry You're Not Sorry” definitely gives you a taste of what to expect on her up coming EP.

The idea behind the song was more so to empower women all while getting them up and moving.  While there’s a great deal of energy put into keeping things rooted by authenticity there's also a very eclectic and free way about it. There is quite a bit on the horizon for K’reema, and as with many artists finding just the right note can be challenging.

Some people are unaware of K’reema musical background and her deep ties to reggae, her formative years growing up in Jamaica exposed her to much of what has shaped her as an artist. It’s been a long time coming for her, and despite support, it has taken years for her to reach this level of recognition, living in Brooklyn later in life has given her some real perspective and nowadays she even tours with her father on occasion.

K’reema’s father is legendary reggae recording artist Yellowman, she crafted a dedication to him and fathers worldwide in debuting a song many of us can relate to called “Father’s Love” which is touted as her most proud moment to date as an artist. It’s that kind of grounding energy mixed with a genuine hustle that is at the forefront in her sound, you can feel this essence in “Sorry You're Not Sorry” as equally smooth and tantalizing. Her latest release is sure to usher in the next wave of big things from this artist in motion.
