Reggae artiste Khali Taylor change his name to Khalfani

Khalfani - It’s been several months since his last offering, musical or otherwise and now he’s back with a new name and a new song.

Today, via his facebook page and his updated blog site, the artist formally known as Khali Taylor, now going by the name Khalfani, released his official statement explaining the reason behind his name change and his absence over the past few months.

The statement offers an insight into the mind space of this unique artist. It is a side which we haven’t yet seen from him and it offers an honest and surprisingly open explanation as to what he has been experiencing within himself.

Besides his statement, today the artist also released a new song. Entitled ‘Rastafari’, the single offers an up close and personal view into the singer’s personal life. In his own words he describes it as ‘His personal experience of coming to know the King.’

In keeping with a style with which we have come to know him for, ‘Rastafari’ is a song that simply cannot be tied down to one genre of music. There is Hip Hop, R&B and Dancehall influences all contained in it, but most notable is the soul and passion with which Khalfani delivers his infectious lyrics and melody. If this single is an indication of what we can expect from this artist as he moves forward, then it is obvious that he has a bright future ahead. With this song we say goodbye to Khali Taylor, and welcome Khalfani.
