Judge rules That Dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel and co-accused have case to answer
The judge in the Vybz Kartel murder trial has thrown out an application by defense lawyers to have the case dismissed.
Justice Lennox Campbell moments ago ruled that Kartel and his four co-accused have a case to answer.
The Crown is alleging that Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer; entertainer Shawn Campbell, popularly known as Shawn Storm; André St John; Shane Williams; and Kahira Jones, murdered Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams on August 16, 2011.
It is alleged that Williams was killed at Kartel’s Havendale, St Andrew house over two missing guns.
Defense lawyers completed their submissions to the judge in the absence of the jury yesterday, after which lead prosecutor, Jeremy Taylor responded on behalf of the Crown.
The case will now continue in the presence of the jury.
Yesterday, Justice Campbell assured the 11-member jury that by next week, he will hand over the case to them for their deliberation.
