Having sung his way into the consciousness of Jamaicans at home and abroad with his 2019 track Embassy Appointment, Jay Smith is now broadening his reach with his new single, Answer Yu Phone.

In a humorous take on a serious situation, Answer Yu Phone tells the story of love gone terribly wrong. Circumstantial evidence, hastily drawn conclusions, and a breakdown in communication lead to one very vex girl and one very desperate guy.

Jay Smith has proven his ability to successfully deliver in a variety of genres. A St. Elizabeth man through and through, Smith is well known on the St. E scene for his big voice, magnetic live performances and prowess in singing R&B, reggae covers and even classical music. Building on his success in winning “Most Popular Song on Social Media” in the 2019 Festival Song competition, Smith declares himself to now be “ready for the world” with his first reggae single.

Answer Yu Phone was co-produced by Smith and songwriter A. Morris, mixed by engineer Delroy “Phatta” Pottinger at Anchor Recording Studios. Other contributors to the infectious one drop track are Kirk “Kirkledove” Bennett on drums, Franklyn “Bubbla” Waul on keys, guitarist Mitchum “Khan” Chin, and bassist Donald “Danny” Dennis. The smooth backing vocals of Paul “Limey” Murray and Earl Smith Junior underpin the track.
