Duane Stephenson launches Dangerously Roots ‘Journey from August Town’

With the elegant stage and sparkling lights set on the manicured lawns of the Jamaica Pegasus, what was to follow was nothing short of tremendous. Duane Stephenson presented tracks from his new album Dangerously Roots last Wednesday at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel lawns; to overwhelming support from his label Kong Star Records, family, friends, the media and fans alike.

For his third studio effort, the album is definitely a testament to growth for the artiste, taking it back to roots rock reggae music foundation, the drum and bass. For the launch event itself Duane took the patrons on a journey, with an interlude of the band merging tracks from his previous albums, ‘August Town’ and ‘Black Gold’ followed by a selection of tracks for the new project.

The tracks presented included ‘Cool Runnings’ a tribute to the 1981 work of Bunny Wailer, ‘Good Love’ and ‘House of Lies’ featuring Luthan Fyah, who added his own stage energy to the already fiery performance.

Master of Ceremonies for the event, Big A from Irie FM also mentioned how hardworking Duane Stephenson has always been, from the days as the lead singer of the group To-Isis to a successful solo career that has spawned three quality albums and countless hit singles.

Duane himself shared thoughts on the project itself and making sure the album was perfect, mentioning that he was half way through the album years ago and scrapped over seven tracks and started from scratch as he wasn’t pleased with the direction of the sound. Duane was adamant that he wouldn’t release the album until he was completely comfortable with the content being presented.

Stalwart in the music fraternity and noted producer Mikey Bennett also added his words of respect for Duane’s work ethic and admiration of his character and personality overall. The artiste’s label Kong Star Records took the opportunity to let patrons know what is in store for Duane as part of the album’s promotion overseas and also premiered a brand new video from the project, ‘Sorry Babylon’.

Duane is now poised for an extensive tour of Europe and the US as part of the promotion for ‘Dangerously Roots’ and looks forward to putting in the work and effort to make this album a commercial success.
