Jamaican emcee and songwriter, DeeWunn, teams up with Canadian label Rebel Vibez.
The label has been spearheaded by Canadian reggae advocate, Carrie Mullings, and uprising female composer Renee Brown, of Black Orchid Music, for his new record “Ribbibunx”. Fusing a classic dancehall sound with a new age flow, the three have created a hit-ready track that is bound to make waves throughout the reggae markets worldwide.
DeeWunn gathered some of Montreal's biggest industry players for his Music Video which was filmed before he left on tour. The video matches the vibe of the song, offering an old school feel with a strong focus on today's Afropunk movement. The concept was brought together by Reeva Ann Walker with the help of Montreal's buzzing videographers, Fatty Soprano and Shutter. The two also filmed and edited the final masterpiece, bringing life to the head bopping single. The video features Montreal's renowned street dancer "Lyrykz" and popular model "KayShauna Koj".
"Ribbibunx" is the artist's first single since his debut album, “Bunx Up”, which released late last year and featured viral hit "Mek It Bunx Up". Produced by Kunley McCarthy of Ward 21, the album did very well on the international market and highlighted other tracks such as “In The Ghetto”, “Highgrade, White Rum” (Ft. Marcy Chin, Sly Rankin), “Get Vex” (Ft. Timberlee), and “Gimmie 60” (Ft. Natalie Storm). Since the songs media release and sneak preview dancers and fans of “Bunx Up” have already been requesting the new song. While on tour in Germany, DeeWunn headlined a few shows, while co-headlining 2 shows with artist Charly Black.
Recently returning to Jamaica from his 5-week Germany tour, DeeWunn has been spending time in his native country recording for some of Dancehall's top producers and prepping for his promotional media tour. The tour is being launched by PR Company, MIA Production, and his management team at RAW Media. The video premieres tomorrow, September 1st, 2017 on World A Reggae, The Tropixs And Montreal Dancehall. The single will also be available for streaming on all major outlets.
