Dancehall reggae singer Habib Koite - Koite was born on January 27, 1958 in Thies Senegal. He is a Malian singer, Songwriter and guitarist.
Habib is also a mumber of a west african super-group which plays Balafon.
After graduating from Bamako National Institue of Arts in 1982, he formed his own band call "Bamada" in 1988.
His first chart topper was "Cigarette Abana" which means No more Cigarettes. The track was released in 1991.
Habib Koite has since released a number of singles and five (5) albums.

His music can be classified as Intermate and Relaxing. It can be enjoyed in English and Bambara.
In January 1995, Habib met his current manager, Belgian Michel De Bock, who, along with his partner Geneviève Bruyndonckx, are the directors of the management and production company Contre-Jour.
