Dancehall artiste Dejavu Returns with Break up..
After gaining notoriety in parts of Europe and the United States, Dancehall artiste Dejavu has returned to the island to show Jamaica just what he can do as a hardcore dancehall star; with the release of his brand new single ‘Break Up Sex’ featuring Raine Seville.
Dejavu rose to visibility in the early 2000’s as one of the main artistes working closely with Elephant Man, penning many hits for the Energy God including ‘ Jook Gyal ‘, Chiny Thing’ and ‘Pon Di River ‘. He spent most of the early part of that decade touring with Elephant Man, however his career was never given to opportunity to properly flourish within that camp.
Elephant man never gave my recording career any real attention, it’s not about the money but I was constantly writing for him and helping his career and my career was placed on the back burner. I’m an artiste first and a writer second. I just decided to do my thing on my own since I wasn’t getting the real help from Elephant Man. There is no animosity there at all, I just decided to do me’ Dejavu explained
Dejavu’s recordings include ‘Nah Beg Nuttun’ which is extremely popular in Europe and has been receiving rotation here in Jamaica on popular radio stations. He has also released ‘Yo Gaba Gaba’ on the Instagram Riddim by Fedda Weight Productions out of Florida.
With the release of the new single ‘Break Up Sex’ produced by noted label Truckback Records however, Dejavu intends to showcase the ‘hardcore lover’ persona that many can relate to.
“Almost everyone can relate to this track because almost everyone has had that person that they can’t get over or find hard to leave. No matter how hard you try something keeps pulling you right back. It’s definitely a reality song for real people’ Dejavu added
“Break Up Sex’ has already garnered some attention within days of its release and is certain to pull additional local attention to this artiste on the rise. Dejavu will be in Jamaica promoting his singles while his team works on finalizing his European tour later this year, he is also setting the stage to release his mixtape before the beginning of summer 2014.
