Auresia Explores Her Ukrainian Roots In “Raíces” Music Video
With much anticipation, Montreal’s singer-songwriter Auresia’s new video is here! “Raíces”, meaning ‘roots’ in Spanish is the title track from her 3rd full-length studio album.
The song ‘Raíces’, much like the rest of her album, features organic instrumentation, impressively blending the sounds of traditional acoustic instruments from Cuba and her native country, Ukraine with the soul of reggae and latin music. The unique sound compliments Auresia’s folk-pop lyrics and melodies, not to mention her harmonious voice.
"Raíces is an homage to my mother who, sadly, was murdered through domestic violence. I first wrote the song as a tribute to her on the 10th year anniversary of her tragic death, it has such deep roots and meaning to me. Keeping my beautiful mother's legacy and memory alive, I went back to roots in Ukraine, to my mother's native land, to film the music video for it.”
“Raíces” is a relatable track that has a universal message, as we are all on a journey, discovering bits of ourselves in our daily lives. In the video Auresia is seen in the historically charming streets of Lviv, along the famous Dnipro river of Kiev, as well as performing in the Maidan Square where war broke out just a few years
back in Ukraine. She also includes picturesque scenes along an ancient country-side village. “Raíces” also features special guest, Marina Krut,on Bandura (a Ukrainian, plucked string, folk instrument), who was a semi-finalist on Ukraine’s X-Factor.
Today, on her birthday, Auresia invites you to watch her video which is available on her YouTube channel.
