A Brief Look Into Dancehall Artiste Shenseea's Life Before Music


The following real life story was taken from the official Facebook page of female dancehall artiste Sheneea.


My family was always against me being an Artiste regardless of how much they knew I loved to sing.

They preferred me to be a nurse or a doctor but I refused and said: "If unu nuh wa me be an artiste me ago be a Police" and upon my CSEC I chose all the subjects that were needed and passed all except 1 which was my most hated subject.

After passing they said being a Police is too dangerous so they decided to send me to a college of Tourism as they thought I'd do better in that field.

I accepted and completed my first year, upon my second year we had to choose a major amongst all the areas that were taught in the first year (Accommodation, Travel and Tour etc.) though, some members of my family said I should be a Flight Attendant I chose to major in Entertainment.

The study was never to be an Artiste but to be the Management and the Laws of music etc; couple months later financial issues rose and I was unable to continue, got a job, got pregnant and right after giving birth I started writing songs of my own. My family wasn't too happy about all that was happening as they visioned me to be what they thought would be suitable for me.

I, on the other hand, was not worried at all. I had so much faith in God and what I wanted to be and how I'd go about being that person. No one saw my vision so I stopped talking after a time and took action.

Now they can't believe how much I've done and helped others and I ain't no "Doctor", how much I'm traveling and I ain't no "Flight Attendant" Ya feel me? I've ignored the biggest dream of mine to give satisfaction to others and no matter which route I took, it still leads me here.

WHAT IS FOR YOU, IS FOR YOU! You'll get a fight in everything you do but nothing can break you once you put your trust in God and believe in yourself. Everything else along the way will just be another story/testimony to tell and inspire others to help them with theirs Do what you love ❤️ Don't do it for the money, don't do it for the fame, don't do it because you're forced to do it, do it because you love it and everything else will fall into place cause once your successful then EVERYBODY gon be proud DO YOU! #romeichentertainment #teamshenseea
