2016 Reggae Grammy nominees announced

18 weeks after the release of “The Cure”, singer Jah Cure has been nominated for his first Grammy.

The nominations were announced this morning on the Grammy’s official website.

Vying for the best reggae album along with Jah Cure are Morgan Heritage for “Strictly Roots”, Barrington Levy with “Acousticalevy”, Luciano for “Zion Awake” and Rocky Dawuni for “Branches Of The Same Tree”.

Noticeably absent from the reggae category for the 2016 Grammys are the Marleys who are renowned to dominate the reggae section of the Grammys.

Ziggy Marley won the 2015 Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album for Fly Rasta.

The 58th Annual GRAMMY Awards will take place in Los Angeles at Staples Center on Sunday, February 15, 2016.

The ceremony will recognize the best recordings, compositions and artists of the eligibility year, which run from October 1, 2014 to September 30, 2015.
