Kalado and Alkaline faces to watch for 2014

The management teams of young dancehall artistes Kalado and Alkaline are predicting that the deejays will be the popular faces of 2014.

Both artistes are nominated for awards in the upcoming Youth View Awards and their respective management teams are of the view that their nominations are as a result of the impact of their music.

According to Alkaline's manager Dwayne Morris, by the end of 2014, the 123 deejay will be in high demand.

"By the end of the year he will be in demand and he will be on the charts. They will also see him outside of just being a recording artiste, but as a performer, which is why we are hosting Alkaline in Concert at Constant Spring. It is a live show with him and Ruff Kutt band. We have some guests, but he is the headliner," the manager said.

Morris says the deejay's quick rise to stardom was unexpected, even though his methods of promotion were all part of a strategy.

"I am a bit shocked that he has picked up so fast among the youth, they catch on real fast. The music industry, however, took a longer time to accept him as an artiste and not just the youth with the tattoo eyes. He is a lyricist and we as a team sit down and plan out everything we do with Alkaline's career. As an artiste, from you have the
people, you are good," Morris said.

Kalado on the other hand, has been out at least a year longer than Alkaline. However, his popularity soared in 2013 starting with his first chart topper, Make Me Feel produced by Dre Day. According to Anthony 'Akeem' Grace, Kalado's publicist, the Alliance deejay brings a new sound to the music industry.

"Kalado is most definitely the artiste to look out for in 2014. He has something new and Jamaicans love new elements of entertainment, hence the fans are loving it. We are in the studio 24/7 and we know what the fans want," he said.

The publicist also disclosed that, for 2014, Kalado will be putting more work into his image as well as stage performance.

"Fans want an image as well because he has the raw talent. So we are putting together the right component to make the artiste a complete star," Grace said.

Kalado is currently promoting singles like Pree Money and Gyal, and Bring Life. He is also gearing up to release the television music video version for his viral Make Me Feel single.

Alkaline is promoting singles 123, Bruck Out and Ready. His concert will be held on January 31 at D'Entrance in Constant Spring.

Other young acts to look out for in 2014 are Samantha J, who made progress on the international scene, Gage, Bookie, Black as Cole band, Jah Bouks, Keznamdi, Pentateuch band, among others.
