Habib Koité

Koite was born on January 27, 1958 in Thies Senegal. He is a Malian singer, Songwriter and guitarist.


Habib is also a mumber of a west african super-group which plays Balafon.

After graduating from Bamako National Institue of Arts in 1982, he formed his own band call "Bamada" in 1988.

His first chart topper was "Cigarette Abana" which means No more Cigarettes. The track was released in 1991.

Habib Koite has since released a number of singles and five (5) albums.

Albums are:
* Muso ko released in 1995
* Maya released in 1998
* Baro released in 2001
* Live! released in 2004 and
* Afrik released in 2007.

His music can be classified as Intermate and Releaxing. It can be enjoyed in English and Bambara.

In January 1995, Habib met his current manager, Belgian Michel De Bock, who, along with his partner Geneviève Bruyndonckx,
are the directors of the management and production company Contre-Jour.

He music is well loved through out the contient of Africa.
