Upcoming Artiste FLIM Releases New Single Titled 'Athletic Event'
New York, USA (Shuzzr PR): In an era where it is so easy to create and release songs, only few will stand out as MUSICIANS. Nowadays it is believed that music is just standing in front of a microphone and recording the first thing that comes to your head, filled with nursery rhymes and no meaning. Young Jamaican born songwriter Kemar “flim” Martin aims to not only have his music known worldwide but also be known for his well written songs with meaning that induces thinking and sparks interest. To be a forensic scientist and a musician on the side is his goal. His aim is to do every genre of music, mainly dancehall and reggae.
Born September 9, 1992, Flim, had a musically inclined family on his father’s side but had not discovered his God given talent until his teenage years. His first musical calling was in church where he, along with his sisters, sang in the Sunday school choir also his passion for playing drums. Then started writing short stories and poems but soon wanted to try something new. Here started the slow but sure growth of what will be a world renowned songwriter. He started taking his songwriting seriously in High school Kingston College, naming himself ‘INTALEK’ ,where he would write songs and have lyrical battles with classmates and others. In the months preceding his final high school days he met the truckback records crew which made him a part of the team and helped him to pursue his side career. There he met a lot of artistes, producers and selectors, both veteran and new. He worked with ‘affairs of the heart’ and ‘bruk it dung’ producer, TEETIMUS.
Also with dancehall hit makers, NEW KIDS & BABY CHRIS , where he wrote the chorus for their hit song ‘ QUINT AN KOTCH’. During this time he recorded a few songs on his laptop and uploaded to youtube that gained a few fans. This growth was later stunted as he enrolled in the University of The West Indies to study biochemistry which took up most of his time. He would however still visit the studio whenever he could. Flim could not hide from his calling and later joined the UWI steel pan orchestra where he was one of the drummers.
This increased his experience of performing for people, seeing their reaction to music and travelling around. This was a big inspiration for him. Flim’s break came when he recorded the lyrical bomber “MASS MURDER” which aimed at a few artistes in the industry. This caught the attention of many including French dancehall producer, Zaoundé, who later asked to do a song for him on his upcoming riddim. After a year he migrated to Miami, Florida in the United States to live with his mother where he revived his songwriting and named himself FLIM.
‘MAINTAIN CULTURE’ which is also his first international version and is with French producer, Zaoundé has received great feedback. A few releases are to follow in the weeks to come, such as a possible billboard chart topper rnb song, A few reggae, dancehall and some acoustic freestyles. Flim’s aim is to attempt to write/record almost every type of song there is; gospel, pop, country, rap, rnb , electro , souls, jazz, rock, etc. Just look out for unexpected and spontaneous releases that will have his compact hard hitting lyrics.
