Trenchtown Rock -What and where is Trench Town?. This is a community located in Kingston Jamaica.



It got its name from a livestock farmer name James Trench. Before that it was called Trench Pen.

This small town was well known for its squatter settlement otherwise known in Jamaica as Ghetto Community.

Trench-town was and is still very popular due to the reggae group known as the wailers. Group members were Bob Marley, Bunny Wailer and Peter Tosh. This is where the group was formed and most of there rehearsals was also done here.

Two of Bob's songs made reference to this community, there are, "Trenchtown Rock" and "No Woman No Cry". It was his love forhis community and reggae music which led to the recording and released of this song Trench Town Rock.
