The Lion of Judah impact on dancehall and Reggae Music
Lion of Judah
What or Who is the Lion of Judah?. The Lion of Judah was the symbol of the Israelite tribe of Judah in the Book of Genesis of the Hebrew Bible
Most Rastafarians used this term whenever they are chanting. Their belief is that this represents Emperor Haile Selassie I of Ethiopia, crowned November 2, 1930 with the titles King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Conquering Lion of the Tribe of Judah, Elect of God and Power of the Trinity.
Rastas hold that Selassie is a direct descendant of the Israelite Tribe of Judah through the lineage of King David and Solomon, and that he is also the Lion of Judah mentioned in the Book of Revelation.
In Jamaica you cannot tell a rasta man that Emperor Haile Selassie I is dead, they think that he is still alive.
On the flag which is used by them it shows a Lion holding a flag, any where in Jamaica and the wider Caribbean this flag is displayed, you can bet your last dollar that there is a Reggae Musician living there.
Mean while In Christian tradition, the Lion of Judah represents Jesus. Many Christian organizations and ministries use the lion of Judah as their emblem or even their name.
