More About Slimflex and Diet Monkey:

Established in 2008, Diet Monkey is a record label and talent management agency based in Toronto, Canada. With a combined 20 years experience amongst the team and extended partners, their mission is to utilize their experience and help fuse the African culture in Canada and combine it with the rest of Canada’s diverse market.

Founded by Richard Dawkins, “Diet Monkey” was created after realizing that a lot of upcoming artists were lacking the knowledge on how to market and promote themselves. Starting out in Event production, Diet Monkey presented their first event in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica which highlighted both local and Canadian acts with Anthony B and Singer J being their major acts.

Overtime, the company's structure grew and their involvement in Toronto’s growing music industry became more prominent. Spearheaded by Richard Dawkins, Richard became more involved within the african community and shifted his focus towards finding ways to combine both his Jamaican Heritage and African roots within his business structure. Diet Monkey has now joined other prominent businesses in the African music community to represent the afrobeat genre during Canadian Music Week. “ I Love Afrobeats” is an event that raises awareness to the genre and its sub genres while showcasing its growth and involvement in today's music scene.
