Simon Splinta reggae artiste official biographyMichael Orlando Kelly a.k.a. Simon Splinta was born on the 19th day of February 1980 at the Victoria Jubilee Hospital Kingston, Jamaica.
He is the third of eight children.Michael started life in the inner city community of Rollington Town. At the age of three years old, his mom Lesma Black migrated to Canada leaving young Michael Kelly in the care of his grandparents in the small district of Crown Land, Trelawny. Here he attended the Wilson Run Primary school until age 11 years old. At the time he then returned to Kingston to live with his Aunt in Melbrooke Heights Harbour View, Kingston 17, He then started to attend the Donald Quarrie High School. It was there that he first began to realize his natural musical ability during daily singing of voice training and friendly musical vocals rehearsing with classmates. Growing up with a musical talent, Michael Orlando Kelly a.k.a. Simon Splinta motivated him self towards a musical journey. In 2001, while at anchor recording studio, he met a recording producer by the name of Bruno Blum from France who was recording a mixed reggae album. He then found the interest in Simon Splinta music and reggae talent. At that time, He recorded his first song entitle “Man A Beg Fi Life, which was included on an original reggae social commentary song that was added on this album which was later released in Europe one year after. He then recorded two title tracks on the burnt faces record label entitled “Life Is A Serious Thing” and “Keep Away From Trouble” respectively as an independent recording artist on a self reliance label. He was constantly working on his first video graphics for his title track “Life Is A Serious Thing” which was released in 2008.Searching for the right and suitable recording label , Simon was introduced to chop chop production label by his cousin David Kelly. He was then recording for producer, Devon Williams on the Chop Chop production label. At the time, Simon recorded several songs on the label entitle “Man So Ital”, “Bobo Man A pray”, ”In The City”, “From Yu See Me Deh”and ”Peace Of Mind”, in collaboration with veteran singer vintage icon, Carl Dawkins. These songs were later released on the label, with musical video for title track “Bobo Man A Pray” which was later released on the website of chop chop production label in advance of cable station and TV station. While seeking to promote and expose his talent of music, he made an appointment to visit TVJ to be on the morning programme, “Smile Jamaica TVJ” with hosts Neville Bell and Simon Crosskill which was successful. He was also interviewed on entertainment report by host Anthony Miller. He was also booked to work on the greatest one night reggae dancehall show on earth ; “Sting” promoted by Mr. Isaiah Laing where he worked with several other stage shows in and around Jamaica. The fans of the music fraternity can always expect good things from Simon Splinta.
