Shango Da Don Ragga

Of the many reggae/dancehall artists currently on the scene, Shango Da Don Ragga is one of Hawaii's hidden gems. Known to most simply as Shango, the Don Ragga has been a consistent figure in the urban music scene of the Aloha State, whose humble beginnings in the industry date back to 2000.
For his entire life, Shango Da Don Ragga has been a student of music. As a band member in school, a radio station DJ, and now, recording and performing artist, club promoter, producer, and DJ.
Musically, Shango has had a long ride while pursuing his goals as an artist. He was signed to Tiki Entertainment (now defunct) in 2003, and stayed with the label for two years prior to leaving due to creative conflict. Afterwards, he was managed briefly by Mastermind Entertainment before going on his own to form his own entertainment company, Rudeboy Riddimz Entertainment. He has two solo albums to his credit, "Private Party" and "IAMDONRAGGA", the latter of which is now available on Amazon, Itunes, and EMusic. Shango Da Don Ragga epitomizes the term "independent artist" in that he self-produced and engineered both of his albums, and mixtapes.
Shango's music appeals to the mature audience that enjoys reggae,HipHop, and R'n'B. Shango has mastered a smooth blend of all these different genres, and has even branched into Dubstep, having worked with artist King Kekai on two breakout songs, "Badman Dehya" and "Massive".
According to Shango, "I never wanted to get rich from making music, although it would be nice. I'm a simple kind of cat. I don't need flash and gimmicks, it's either you like my music or you don't. I don't try to do what's popular, or what's trendy, I just try to make music that I would enjoy if I was on the other side of the table. The main thing I want people to know is that I'm not fakin' anything by choosing to do my music in a raggamuffin style, it's just that, that's what makes sense to me. Yes, I want to have an authentic sound, and I believe I've achieved that. My songs are about life, in all aspects, the good, the bad, and the ugly. My greatest hope is that when I'm dead and gone, people will still hear a Shango track and enjoy it".
Shango Da Don Ragga lives in Hawaii, and consistently hosts events which showcase other artists. You can find his music on Reverbnation and Soundcloud, as well as Amazon, ITunes, EMusic, and MOG.
