Reggae singer Stephanie Wallace

by Stephanie Wallace
(Jamaica)

Stephanie

Stephanie

Stephanie Hava Wallace, born November 15, 1985 in St Catherine Jamaica is known professionally as Stephanie.

A singer/songwriter, her sound is a fusion of r&b, reggae, soul, dancehall, and pop; with a fresh funkiness that makes her truly unique.

Stephanie grew up and lives on a rich variety of music and speaks highly of singers such as Billy Holiday, Whitney Houston, Sam Cooke, Celine Dion, Jill Scott, Angie Stone, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Beyonce, Donny Hathaway and Ella Fitzgerald to name a few.

Stephanie has graced various avenues of music and the performing arts in her musical journey thus far which has enriched her mind and nurtured her craft.

From cabaret band Steele Force to Ashe Caribbean Performing Arts Company where she trained and toured as a singer, dancer, and musical theatre actor. Thereafter Stephanie started doing accompanying vocals for both local and international acts.

One of the most impressionable experiences is her six (6) months tenure with Basque Band singer Fermin Muguruza where she travelled the world singing in the ancient European tongue of Basque, French, English and Spanish. Stephanie also toured (lead and backing vocal) with international reggae band Groundation.

Three (3) years ago Stephanie was asked to be a part of group to record studio albums with Sly & Robbie for Sony Music Japan. Stephanie along with her group members Chantelle Ernandez and Scantana made up the multifaceted UNITZz. With two albums “J Paradise” and “J Lovers”, UNITZz has gained tremendous success in Japan.

“J Paradise” received a Grammy mention in the 2010 Grammy nominations in the category of “best pop vocals”; appearing in field one of the potential nominees. UNITZz also, with Stephanie on lead vocals is a part of the 53rd (2011) Grammy nominations in the reggae category; with a Lady Antebellum cover “Need You Now” on the compilation album “Sly & Robbie & The Taxi Gang – One Pop Reggae” .

A natural beauty, Stephanie epitomizes expressions of love, determination and passion, and this is reflected in her life, her strong go-for-it attitude toward her goals, and her strong stage presence. Her musical journey continues to blossom into the realization of a dream that has stuck with her since conception; to make an indelible musical mark in the world.
