Jamaican reggae singer Gyptian is the owner of this summer's (2010)most compelling dance hall hit, "Hold You (Hold Yuh)," a featherweight ballad so smooth it makes Usher's slickest slow jam sound like a Mel Gibson phone call. This is according to the Washington Post Blog.
Born Widel Beneto Edwards on 25th October 1983, In St. Andrew Jamaica, he began his musical career at age seven (7) singing in church.His first major break came in 2004 when he won the Star Search Talent Competition in Portmore St. Catherine, Jamaica. This led to him earning a booking for the greatest one night reggae show Sting that same year. The name was given to him because he always tied his shirt around his head like an Egyptian Pharaoh.
