Reggae Grammy chairman Mr Roger Steffens Retires after 27yrs.

Mr Steffens says that one of his main reasons for retiring from the industry is that he does not know the differnce between reggae music and contemporary anymore.

He said that when it comes on to the Grammys most if not all of the voters are American and they don't really know reggae music, expect for the Marley's.

Because the Grammys don't recognize record sale or popularity, it goes off names recognition, and because the Marley's are well known they will always win once they are nominated.

So I guess if you want to win the Grammy for "Best Reggae Album' you will have to change your name?.

Roger said he don't understand what is happening to Jamaican music, it's heading in so many different direction. He said its really hard to tell what is really reggae from what is some contemporary off shoot music from the Rastafarian music which he grew up loving so much.

With Mr Steffens retiring, We are now wondering what will happen to the Grammy Awards for Reggae music?.
