TÉVON STYLEZ DEFEATS BLINDNESS TO PURSUE HIS PASSION
Trévon (Dwayne Trevor Johnson) is currently revolutionizing reggae music with the fusion of his unique ne-yo soul, R&B style.
Signed to Island Fuse Entertainment (IFE), Trévon has recently released his debut single entitled "Problem" on Half-A-Puff's "Love Sick" riddim.
Gifted with the ability of painting vivid pictures of scenarios with his music, "Problem" is a colorful song depicting a fictitious relationship where a mistress, "under cover lover", won't leave him alone.
Trévon's vocal style and sound has been compared to Slim from 112. Yet he is quick to let people know: "Don't get it twisted, I'm Trévon, that's what I sound like".
His musical inspirations are drawn from international artists such as Erykah Badu, Sade, India Arie, Musiq Soulchild as well as classic lover's rock/ reggae music from the early 80's. When describing his music he states: "It's more refined, soulful reggae music with feeling".
Born to parents Ann Marie Pinnock and Trevor Johnson, Trévon grew up in Clarendon, Jamaica. His father was a Rastafarian, a conscious thinker. He encouraged Trévon to be an exceptional individual, holding strong morals and high ambition.
Trévon is also a perfectionist, a trait that is evident in his music and prolific song writing skills. When asked about his writing ability he states: "It doesn't have to rhyme if it makes sense". This sounds like a cliché but music is everything to me. From 3 years old my father was recording me.
I'm always at the studio. I started professional music at 17. I was unconsciously trained for this. I was always training". He recently performed his first official stage show on a live radio broadcast for Island Vibez, News Talk Radio 93 FM show, where he successfully wooed audiences with "Problem". "I was kinda nervous because I didn't know how the crowd would react, but I relaxed when I felt the positive energy.
I'm looking forward to my next performance" said Trévon. Trévon has a wide appreciation of music and hopes to collaborate with several artists in the future such as Aidonia, Erykah Badu, Anita Baker, India Arie and Alicia Keys.
His ambition is to ?redefine music as a lifestyle, one song at a time". According to Trévon, music is everything, the way you live, eat, breath, sleep, therefore by adding something completely different Trévon is redefining everyday life itself.
