Reggae Artiste Prestige hits the Billboard chart


'He That Seek', the single from reggae artiste Prestige, is featured on the Billboard-charting compilation, 'Reggae on the River Collection'.


Reggae on the River debuted at number 10 on Billboard's reggae album chart last week. An upbeat Prestige is happy with his latest accomplishment.

"I'm just happy to know that a compilation which my song is featured on has made it on to the Billboard chart. It is a good look", he said in a media release.

He That Seek is produced by Prestige and Doc Records.

Prestige, whose real name is Lauriston Bruce, is originally from Clarks Town in Trelawny. Now based in Portmore, St Catherine, he is known for songs such as We Nuh Trust Dem, I am Blessed and Tender Loving.

The artiste is now back in the island after performing in California, Washington, DC, Utah, New York and Philadelphia, to name a few. He also performed at the annual Reggae on the River festival.

"It was a good experience doing all these shows because you get a chance to feel the energy of the crowd and the reception from the people. That's the best way to determine how well your music is doing outside of Jamaica," the Rastafarian singer explained.

Prestige recorded his first single, Big Time Murderer, 21 years ago for the Black Scorpio label.

Formerly known as Presley, he changed his name to Prestige.

As a songwriter, he has written more than 100 songs to date and is constantly writing. One of his favourite songs is Miss You Mama, which was written in honour of his mother who passed in 2002.
