Reggae artiste Ginjah reaped huge success in 2013 with 'Sweet Killer'

The year 2013 will be forever etched in the memory of reggae singer Ginjah.

At the start of the year, not much was heard from the former Beres Hammond protégé. As the year rolled along, his voice could be heard almost everywhere across Jamaica, as his controversial single, Sweet Killer, grew in popularity.

"I am very happy how 2013 worked out for me. From the beginning of the year, I had a plan. The plan was to make a big hit song in order to get a foothold in the music industry."

"Deep in my heart, I knew that Sweet Killer, was the right song to take my career to the next level, so I decided to promote it as much as possible," said Ginjah.

Prior to the release of Sweet Killer, Ginjah had already enjoyed a fair amount of popularity with songs such as Never Lost My Way, Music Alone and Prayer.

"Before this, everybody knew my other hits, but nobody really knew Ginjah at home, mainly because I spend so much time performing abroad."

"In order to correct that problem, I knew I had to do something different. So I hired a publicist. But something was still missing, the publicist I was working with wasn't doing a very good job. My good friend Stampede recommended that I hire Ralston Barrett to be my new publicist. I took his advice and, from that point everything changed for the better."

Ginjah said Sweet Killer was a team effort.

"The whole Ginjah Music team played a great role in promoting Sweet Killer. I have to big up Trainer and the whole team because every day and night they are in the streets promoting Ginjah. I also have to thank all the DJs for playing my music and the fans for supporting me all the way."

Sweet Killer has placed Ginjah on a new level and he is eyeing even more success 2014.

"This song is on reggae charts all over the world. It's getting massive airplay as well. Sweet Killer has definitely put my name on a higher level now, so I have to continue working. The plan is to make Ginjah a household name in Jamaica and then take on the international scene," he said.

Ginjah is booked to perform on Rebel Salute 2014. He will perform on the final night of the two-day Reggae festival slated for January 17 and 18, Richmond Estate, St Ann.
