Ranco drop Diamond dancehall remix

Rising dancehall deejay Ranco is hoping to capitalise on the momentum created from the recent dancehall remix of Rihanna's Diamonds.

Ranco is featured on the remix and, according to the artiste, the attention has opened up a opportunities for him.

"The feedback to the remix has been positive. Social media is abuzz with people talking about the song and I am really happy and pleased with the way things turned out," Ranco stated in a release.

The dancehall remix of Diamonds, which was produced by New York-based producer Musical Masquerade, has been blowing up on reggae charts in the US, Italy and the UK.

Born Jermaine Bailey in Spanish Town, Ranco's stage name was given to him as a youngster and it stuck with him until he decided to pursue music professionally.

After completing studies at Spanish Town Comprehensive High, he decided to embark on his musical interests.

He made his recording debut in 2009 with the track Gimmie the Strength for Spanish Town based producer 'Bully'.

Since then, he has recorded songs including Gal a Murder, Do You Ting Baby, Touch, and Over and Over.

A versatile artiste, Ranco has worked with producers including ZJ Chrome, Huffy from Good Youth Production and Jamie Roberts for Young Vibes Productions.

He described his musical journey as one that has been challenging.

"My musical journey has been a very challenging one but I have accepted the challenge because I believe music is what I am destined to do.

"So instead of despairing when the road gets tough, I just use obstacles to my advantage and learn from them," he said.

His first single for 2013 is Successful, which is on the Thirteen Records label.
