Decky Promotions, in association with Magnum Tonic Wine, officially launched the Magnum Follow Ur Sound series on March 22 at the Gee Wee Restaurant and Lounge in Kingston. CEO of Decky Promotions, Dexton Ennis told his guests they were in for an electrifying event come Sunday, April 27 at Sugarman’s Beach, Hellshire, St. Catherine.
Ennis explained that the event, that’ll see renowned sounds Body Guard , Silver Hawk, Sound Trooper and Flava Unit vying for $250,000 in cash, will be devoid of profanity and indecent language and indicated that participating sounds had signed a contract stating such. The promoter went on to mention that part proceeds of the event will be donated to the St. Mary Infirmary , a charity he has been supporting for the last 14 years.
Guest Speaker at the launch, Dr. Sonjah Stanley Niaah, Senior Lecturer in Cultural Studies at the University of the West Indies, Mona , said Jamaicans should endeavour to appreciate and embrace our rich sound system heritage as much as the world does and respect the events that highlight this aspect of Dancehall culture.
Sophia Bernard-Fairman, Group Brand Manager Fortified Wines & Liqueurs at Wray and Nephew spoke of Magnum’s commitment to the new event series “Magnum Tonic Wine through its previous relationship with Decky Promotions recognizes that Mr. Ennis takes great pride in the level of professionalism and high standards which he sets for anything that he undertakes. The success of Follow Di Arrow speaks for itself and therefore Magnum Tonic Wine was only too happy to jump on board for Follow Ur Sound.” She said.
Participating Sounds then gave the audience a taste of what to expect at the face-off on April 27 before Tony Curtis and Nitty Kutchie brought the curtains down on the event.
Magnum Follow Ur Sound Faceoff will be hosted by the Energy God Elephant Man and will have as judges : Wee Pow, DJ Sunshine and Culture Doctor – Dr. Sonjah Stanley Niaah.
