Jamaican reggae artiste Gregory Isaacs (the cool Ruler) is dead.

He was 59 years old.

Isaacs' manager Copeland Forbes confirmed that the artiste died at his home in London on October 25, 2010 following a long battle with lung cancer.

Gregory rose to international fame in the late 1970s. In his teens, Isaacs became a veteran of the talent contests that regularly took place in Jamaica.

In 1968, he made his recording debut with a duet with Winston Sinclair, "Another Heartache", recorded for producer Byron Lee.

Issacs has released more than 500 albums during his career, most of which were compilations.

Gregory has work with reggae artist such as Bob Marley, Lee "Scratch" Perry, Freddi McGregor, Ninja Man, Jc Lodge, Beres Hammond, Dennis Brown, Byron Lee, Prince Buster, Errol Dunkley and the list goes on and on.

He was truly a star,a legend and an Icon. He will be greatly missed by the whole music fraternity.



Thanksgiving Service for reggae star, Gregory Isaacs, will be held at the National Indoor Sports Centre on Saturday, November 20, 2010, starting at 10:00 a.m.

Viewing of his body will take place at the same venue on Friday,November 19, 2010 between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Gregory died in England on October 25, 2010. His body will be flown to Jamaica on Thursday, November 11, 2010.

The theme for the Thanksgiving Service is Red Rose for Gregory, any one who's planing to attend the service are being asked to take along a red rose and to wear black or white or a combination and to be seated by 9:30a.m.

The first hour of the service will be a musical tribute to Gregory. Interment will be at the Dovecot Cemetery.
