Ghanaian Reggae Music

"Ghana's Reggae Story"

Ghanaian reggae music is mostly influence by Bob Marley. Most Ghanaians consider reggae to be music from Africa. Although Ghana's main genre of music is Hiplife, Jamaican reggae is certainly making a name for itself there.



The Top reggae artistes in Africa are Alpha Blondy, Majek and Lucky Dube. These artistes has performed all over the world including Jamaica.

Rocky Dawuni is known in Ghana for their lively performance, and is regarded as Ghana's top reggae band. Their album "Hymns For Rebel Soul" is doing very well in stores.

"African Reggae Fever" is currently their biggest single from this album.

The top recording label in Ghana is "Rockstar 4000 Music Entertainment Recording Label". Ghana's recording artiste Samini has just sign a recording contract with them.

Like the Grammy Awards in America. The Ghanaian music Awards is the top Awards for music in this country. Every reggae artiste main gold is to get nominated and win the award for top reggae artiste in the reggae category.

If you should visit this country and wishes to listen to some reggae music. Vibe FM is the radio station to listen to, for more than 11 years they have being play this genre of music. Thanks to there top presenter Nii Ayitey Okine.
